The highly anticipated 9th Annual Light Up the Highlands event was once again hosted by the Lake Highlands Junior Women’s League on November 26. Thousands of Lake Highlands’ residents showed up for the event for hours of family fun. This completely free event included kid’s crafts, multiple bounce houses, hot chocolate, a snow luge, a 360-degree photo booth, face painting, ice skating, a Christmas vendor market, including 13 local small businesses and, of course, photos with Santa. In the spirit of giving back, the Reverse Food Truck, an outreach of NorthPark Presbyterian Church, collected donations for those who are food insecure in the community. Lake Highlands residents supported the Reverse Food Truck by donating non-perishables. Performances by Lake Highlands High School Highlandettes, Wranglers and Espree and LH Dance Academy provided energy and excitement throughout the event, which commenced after the 22-foot Christmas tree lit up the sky. — From Staff Reports
