To celebrate their 65th anniversary in business, Golden’s Keys held a party for the community on October 2. The Goldens are a four-generation family whose patriarch and matriarch began a locksmith business in Casa Linda Plaza on October 3, 1961. Al and Perle Golden began the locksmithing business in the Casa Linda Plaza shopping center. They were on the walkway between El Fenix and the Jim Smith Mobil in an 8-foot x 8-foot free-standing kiosk. Customers would come up to the Dutch door on the side of the building and have their locksmithing needs addressed while standing outside the kiosk. For the anniversary party, the staff grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, served chips and drinks, and provided not one but two delicious celebratory cakes. Beautiful flowers were donated by McShan Florists as a special gift to their longtime across-the-street neighbors. Guest enjoyed a “Guess the Number of Keys in a Big Glass Jar” contest (there were 548). Z. Zsohar was closest with a guess of 547, and he won a $100 Visa gift card, compliments of Golden’s Keys! The milestone celebration was enjoyed by family, friends, customers, neighbors and the Dallas Referral Network, East Dallas Networking and the East Dallas Chamber of Commerce. Golden’s Keys is located at 10238 Garland Rd. in Dallas. — From Staff Reports
