Group makes picking up lake trash fun

From Staff Reports

For the Love of the Lake (FTLOTL) recently celebrated its 25th (plus one year) anniversary! The non-profit organization has been around since 1995 doing everything it can to help keep White Rock Lake clean. The event, held at the Bath House Cultural Center on Dec. 5, was a way to recognize, show appreciation for and celebrate with the people who have helped FTLOTL fulfill its mission.

Amy Ewell is one of the Trash Queens of White Rock Lake. She has been a longtime volunteer with For the Love of the Lake and loves bringing fun to the party.

FTLOTL supports programs to preserve and enhance White Rock Lake Park. The group organizes regular Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce-Up (SSSS) clean-up activities, tree planting events and raises money needed to fund improvements to White Rock Lake Park.

The next SSSS is on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 8 a.m. This is a drive-thru only event at the FTLOTL offices, which are located at 1152 N. Buckner Blvd. Suite #123 in Dallas. Return trash grabbers no later than noon. For more information, visit whiterocklake.org.
