Nick and Nora, the White Rock Lake eagles, lost their nest on Tuesday. They are pictured above, sitting on a branch next to the broken limb that held their nest. It was heartbreaking to watch them fly around looking for it for what seemed hours. So many of us have loved watching this pair over the last few months; what a beautiful gift they’ve been. A Parks & Wildlife biologist was there almost immediately after it happened around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, and along with others on his staff, was able to determine there were eggs, but no longer viable. The game warden was on his way when I left to remove the nest and eggs in order to prevent any vandalism. Mother Nature is harsh. I’m so sorry for these young eagles, and I’m grateful I got to see them for just a little while.
