Greenland Hills United Methodist Church is holding its 16th annual Global Village Market on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The two-day event brings together charitable organizations and fair-trade retailers to offer a truly unique holiday shopping experience. Shoppers can buy napkins from a sewing school in Eastern Congo, tamales from Emanuel Community Center, donate to provide childcare to local families facing healthcare crises, and buy handmade ornaments that fund wells in the developing world. There will be live music, homemade pies, tamales and chili to go and food from Greenland Hills UMC’s youth group. In the 15 years since Greenland Hills UMC debuted Global Village Market, the church has raised $435,728 for nonprofits locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. The church is located at 5835 Penrose Ave. in Dallas. — Amanda Ritchie
