Dallas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) needs more male volunteers to be champions for abused children. Join Dallas CASA for Men of CASA, a barbecue and beer reception followed by an information session for men to learn about standing up for child victims of abuse and neglect by becoming a Dallas CASA volunteer advocate.

Dallas CASA volunteers are trained and supervised to work on behalf of abused and neglected children removed from their homes and placed in the protective care of the state. On an average day in Dallas, more than six children are removed from home due to abuse or neglect.

More than 4,300 children lived in the protective care of the state last year, and half are boys needing strong men in their lives. All children have the right to be safe. For many of these children, their CASA volunteer is the only consistent, caring adult during a frightening, uncertain time.

The event is from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23; the program begins at 6:30 p.m. Catering will be provided by Not Just Q and Tupps Brewery.

RSVP at dallascasa.org or by calling 214-827-8961 by Aug. 20. Dallas CASA is located at 2757 Swiss Ave. in Dallas.
